How to Eat Papaya Fruit?

Papaya is one of the most delicious and healthiest fruit on Earth. Papaya has a unique ability to soothe the stomach. Every time I have acid reflux problems I eat papaya and it helps me to keep the symptoms under control. Papaya is full of vitamins, minerals, and other helpful stuff. This includes carotenes, vitamin C, the B vitamins, folate, pantothenic acid, potassium, copper, magnesium, and fiber.

Papayas are picked when they are green in order to reduce bruising during shipping. However, the papaya is not ready to eat until it is predominantly yellow. Here is a little tip: papaya fruit can ripen more quickly if you put it in a paper bag with ethylene producing fruit such as an apple or a banana.

To eat papaya you should cut the fruit in halves horizontally and scoop the seeds out with a spoon.

Is it Safe to Eat Papaya During Pregnancy?

Pregnant women can eat ripe, yellow papaya. However, avoid eating unripe or semi-ripe, green papaya. Research shows that unripe papaya may trigger uterine contractions.

Hawaiian Papaya Boats

Hawaiian Papaya Boats are my favorite way to eat the Papaya fruit. A Hawaiian Papaya Boat is a super easy and fast way to prepare papayas for breakfast. I call these creations Hawaiian Papaya Boats because I learned the recipe in Hawaii and the shape of the papayas remind me of boats. Here is the recipe:

– Cut one papaya in half
– Scoop out the seeds from each half
– Fill in the space vacated by the seeds with yogurt and granola
– Optionally, you can add honey

Your light and delicious papaya breakfast is ready! Eat it with a spoon by scooping out the fruit and other ingredients from the skin.
